Educational programmes for local communities
Veolia is committed to educating and raising environmental awareness of both its employees and the local communities.
The company has conducted various educational campaigns and activities related to water and the water & sewage industry for many years. Veolia also works with local authorities and community organisations to implement sustainable development projects.
Examples of Veolia’s educational activities:
I Love Warsaw – I Collect Rainwater
The “I Love Warsaw – I Collect Rainwater” project has been run since 2021 by Veolia Polska Foundation and Veolia Energia Warszawa, with the aid and support of the Capital City of Warsaw.
So far, as part of the “I Love Warsaw – I Collect Rainwater” has achieved the following:
- successful implementation in 50 kindergartens and 12 municipal schools,
- installation of 124 rainwater collection tanks,
- planting 100 trees and 240 bushes and perennials,
- preparation of comprehensive educational materials for children and scenarios for school lessons about the importance of water in the natural environment.
In 2024, the “I Love Warsaw – I Collect Rainwater” project will be implemented in the Warsaw ZOO and will involve:
installing 38 rainwater collection tanks,
providing educational packages, including interactive whiteboards, for the Eco-Village in the Warsaw ZOO,
new plantings.
